About Dr Stephen Falk

Dr. Stephen Falk qualified from Liverpool University in 1983 and spent a period in Liverpool undertaking a general medical rotation. He then trained in oncology in Cardiff and Cambridge becoming a consultant in Bristol in 1994.

Dr. Falk's major clinical interests are thoracic (lung) and gastro-intestinal malignancies (oesophagus, stomach, pancreas, colo-rectal).

Dr. Falk provides specialist chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments, often in combination with surgical interest in lung cancer. He has a keen interest in clinical research which was stimulated as a MRC Clinical Scientist in Cambridge where the MRC cancer trials unit was situated at the time. He has an MD related to lung cancer and scheduling of topoisomerase poisons, with and without radiation, which is the basis of on-going interest in chemo-radiotherapy and new drugs. Dr. Falk has an ongoing interest in medical research, continuously seeking the most innovative and effective treatments for his patients.

Dr. Falk's interest in research means that where possible all patients who are referred will be offered an appropriate clinical trial.

Excellent outcome, as treatment cleared cancer.

I didn't learned a great deal about possible avenues open to me in terms of my medical condition - just the bog standard of chemo therapy sessions with very little chances of success even though other centres like the London Clinic offer innovative new treatments with much higher success rates - these possible solutions were never mentioned by Dr Falk.
