Dr Stefano Sansone

Dr Stefano Sansone is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Advanced Endoscopist at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal disorders and advanced therapeutic endoscopy.
He has extensive experience in managing a wide range of digestive conditions, including reflux, abdominal pain, changes in bowel habit, iron deficiency anaemia, gastrointestinal bleeding, and colorectal polyps. He also provides expert assessment and second opinions for patients with complex gastrointestinal conditions.
Dr Sansone has a particular interest in advanced endoscopic procedures and is highly experienced in the endoscopic treatment of large and complex gastrointestinal polyps. His specialist practice includes Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR) and Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD), allowing many patients to undergo minimally invasive treatment and avoid surgery where appropriate. He also performs diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy and colonoscopy, polypectomy, dilatation, haemostasis procedures, and argon plasma coagulation.
After graduating from the Second University of Naples School of Medicine in 2009, Dr Sansone completed specialist training in Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy at the University of Naples Federico II. He subsequently undertook advanced endoscopy training under internationally recognised experts in the field. Since 2020, he has been an accredited bowel cancer screening colonoscopist, reflecting his commitment to the highest standards of quality and safety in colonoscopy.
Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Sansone has contributed to numerous research projects in gastroenterology and endoscopy, with publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at international scientific meetings.
