Dr Simon James Davies

Dr Simon James Davies is a highly dedicated Consultant Anaesthetist who provides patient-centred care across a broad spectrum of surgical procedures. Understanding that undergoing surgery can be an anxious experience, he prioritises patient safety, clear communication, and tailored care strategies. His reassuring approach ensures that every individual feels supported and well-informed throughout every stage of their surgical journey, from initial preparation to post-operative recovery.

With extensive expertise in Perioperative Medicine and Anaesthetics, Dr Davies specialises in administering anaesthesia for major surgical cases and conducting thorough preoperative risk assessments. His clinical interests include cardiac output monitoring, perioperative fluid therapy, haemodynamic stability management, and the targeted use of vasopressors to prevent intraoperative hypotension. By incorporating cardiopulmonary exercise testing and advanced monitoring techniques, he works to minimise perioperative risks and enhance recovery outcomes.

Dr Davies completed his undergraduate medical degree (MB ChB) at the University of Edinburgh in 1991. Following his initial training and international clinical engagements, he undertook specialist training in Anaesthesia. He earned a Doctor of Medicine (MD) research degree and holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Health Research and Statistics. Professionally, he is a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA).

Complementing his clinical duties, Dr Davies actively contributes to academic research in perioperative care as a Reader in Perioperative Medicine. His academic work focuses on intraoperative haemodynamic stability, machine learning applications in anaesthesia, and risk stratification prior to major surgery.
