Dr Simon Ellis

After graduating in Dentistry in 1991 from the University of Birmingham, Dr. Ellis spent three years at Senior House Officer Level and working part-time in general practice. In 1995 he undertook a three-year residency in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at Manchester Dental Hospital. Here he completed the Fellowship in Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and an MSc in Restorative Dentistry.

In 1998 he undertook a five-year Specialist Fellowship in Restorative Dentistry at Sheffield Dental Hospital and the Glenfield Hospital in Leicester. During this time, he was awarded a Travel Fellowship by the British Society for the Study of Prosthetic Dentistry and visited the Oslo Cleft Team in Norway and the Branëmark Implant Clinic in Sweden. He also spent time with the Maxillofacial Prosthetist at the Morriston Hospital in Swansea, treating patients with Sleep Breathing Disorders. In 2003, he was accredited as a Consultant and entered the Specialist Lists in Prosthodontics, Endodontics, Periodontics, and Restorative Dentistry.

In June 2003 he was appointed as a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at Torbay Hospital, before taking the Restorative Dentistry and Oral Rehabilitation consultancy post at Poole Hospital. Here he established restorative dentistry service for patients affected by head and neck cancer.

Dr. Ellis believes in proving honest to patients, especially when there is uncertainty on how best to progress. He also maintains a close collaboration with the patient's own Dentist for long-term care and maintenance.
