Dr Sami Hoque

Dr Sami Hoque is a Lead Consultant Gastroenterologist, specialising in Inflammatory Bowel diseaser works at Whipps Cross University Hospital. He also works in private practices at Holly House Private Hospital and Spire Roding Hospital in Redbridge.

Dr Hoque was awarded his primary medical qualification in 1986, before undertaking basic and specialised medical training. He went on to complete a PhD in 2000 at Edinburgh University which was based on gut bacteria function in inflammatory bowel diseases. He was successfully awarded a prize for ‘Best Research Student', and then another prize for the best research paper from the American College of Gastroenterology. He was first appointed as Consultant Gastroenterologist and Physician at University College London Hospital (UCLH), before taking his current posts. He spent his sabbatical as'visiting professor' Mount Sinai , NY in Crohn's unit in 2011. He has published widely, his Author H index 26

He works as the Lead Physician of the Digestive Disease and Nutrition unit and is involved in running drug trials for treatments for Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn's Disease and Inflammatory Bowel Syndrome. He can perform endoscopy to an advanced level and provides training for other gastroenterologists. He has had years of clinical experience which has allowed him to become a highly experienced gastroenterologist at the forefront of his field.
