About Dr Rito Mitra
Dr. Rito Mitra is a Consultant Cardiologist at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital and an honorary Consultant Cardiologist the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. He sees patients privately at Spire Cardiff Hospital. Dr. Mitra completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Calcutta in India in 1993. After qualifying, he moved to the UK and completed his specialist cardiology training in South Wales, Newcastle, and the London area. He gained an MD research degree from the University of London in 2005.
Dr. Mitra treats patients with a wide range of cardiac conditions. He has a a specialist interest in interventional cardiology which involves the diagnosis and management of coronary artery disease including angina and heart attacks. This is performed by coronary angiography and coronary angioplasty, a technique which uses balloons and stents to open up narrowed / blocked arteries of the heart. He is also able to offer extensive diagnostic services which include interpreting electrocardiograms (ECGs), echocardiograms, heart rhythm monitors, blood pressure recordings and exercise tests. He practices in a facility which provides a comprehensive cardiac test and treatment set-up.

At my age, there is an overwhelming sense of trepidation going for a heart procedure no matter how intricate or innocuous. I found Dr. Mitra to be amazingly kind, genuine, caring, and professional in his dealings with me. Not only did he have a first-class bedside manner, but he also put one at ease with humor engendered with an astounding comprehensive description of the procedure.
