Mr Philip Vinoo David

Mr. Philip David is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon with over 25 years of experience as an Ophthalmologist. He practices at Ribble Valley Eye Clinic and at the East Lancashire Hospitals (Royal Blackburn Hospital and Burnley General Hospital). He specialises in cataract surgery, retinal diseases (medical and surgical management) and glaucoma.

He is the Clinical Lead for Vitreo-retinal surgery at East Lancs Hospitals.

​Mr. David has a longstanding interest in medical education and training and runs an internationally recognised Retinal surgical fellowship training programme at East Lancs.

He receives referrals for the management of simple and complex cataracts and surgical management of complications following cataract surgery and has extensive experience in dealing with difficult and complicated cataracts. He also implants special intraocular lenses such as toric, multifocal lenses and telescopic lenses.

Mr. David has a special interest in the management of retinal diseases. He provides not only medical and laser treatment for retinal disease but also complex vitreoretinal surgical treatment. He provides surgical treatments for retinal diseases such as macular holes, epiretinal membranes, retinal detachment and retinal tears. Mr. David has considerable experience in dealing with medical diseases of the retina including age related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and retinal vascular occusion.

Mr. David qualified from St. John's Medical College. He has trained in ophthalmology in Yorkshire and Wales and has completed retinal fellowships from Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham and Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.
