About Dr Markus Laupheimer
Dr Markus Laupheimer is a Consultant Sports & Exercise Physician in London with over 17 years' experience in leading sports and musculoskeletal medicine centres worldwide, including the Schulthess Clinic (Switzerland), BUPA Centres of Excellence, and Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital (Qatar).
He earned his MD with distinction from Ulm Medical School researching joint immunology and metal replacements, before qualifying as a GP and Consultant in General Medicine specialising in sports and musculoskeletal medicine. He went on to complete an MSc in Sports and Exercise Medicine at Queen Mary University of London.
Markus's career spans elite sport at the highest level. He was part of the medical team at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, and has also worked as a Sports & MSK Physician for the RAF and the England Football Association, covering the Senior Men's Futsal Team and England's U18/U19/U20 squads. At the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, he served as a Sports Medicine Doctor for Swimming, Diving, Water Polo, and Rowing, and within the Athletes' Village.
Alongside his clinical work, Markus is driven by innovation in regenerative medicine — research that led him to help establish an orthobiologics injection clinic at Aspetar Hospital in Qatar.

I had a follow-up appointment today regarding my plantar fasciitis, having received a steroid injection from the doctor five weeks ago. During the appointment, he thoroughly examined my foot and discussed how things had progressed since the injection. He then explained the next course of treatment he felt would be most appropriate for me. I found the consultation extremely informative. He was very knowledgeable and explained everything to me clearly and concisely, making sure I understood the situation and the proposed treatment plan. I appreciated the time he took to examine my foot and explain the options available to me. I left the appointment feeling well informed about the next steps in managing my plantar fasciitis.
Dr Laupheimer took the time to listen to my concerns, assess my progress and explain the next steps clearly. I appreciated his professional and approachable manner and the fact that I felt able to ask questions and discuss any concerns I had. The appointment gave me a clearer understanding of my recovery and what I should focus on going forward. I felt well looked after and reassured following the consultation. I would like to sincerely thank Dr Laupheimer for his continued care, professionalism and support throughout my treatment.
