Dr Kapil Bhargava

Dr Kapil Bhargava is a Consultant Dermatologist and Mohs Surgeon, and a founding partner of Welbeck London Skin Health and Allergy. He specialises in treating skin cancer, skin surgery, hair and scalp disorders and conditions suited to laser treatment. He is frequently asked to provide second opinions for patients referred by other dermatologists.

Patients describe his consultations as calm, thorough and clearly explained. He assesses the problem in detail, explains clearly what he finds and sets out the options before treatment begins.

He is a Joint Royal Colleges Fellowship trained Mohs surgeon and founded the Mohs micrographic surgery service at the Royal London Hospital. This is a specialist technique for precise removal of head and neck skin cancers whilst sparing healthy skin. In almost every case he reconstructs wounds the same day. He teaches surgery and reconstruction to colleagues at national workshops and lectures.

He led the Barts Health skin cancer service for seven years and designed and now leads a Barts Charity health innovation grant funded study into diagnosing skin cancer without surgery utilising non-invasive imaging.

After completing training at St John's Institute of Dermatology, he spent a decade there at the specialist hair clinic seeing referrals from other consultants across the country. He is first author on hair and scalp disorders chapters in both Rook's Textbook of Dermatology, the field's principal reference text, and the popular ABC of Dermatology.

Laser forms a substantial part of his practice. Colleagues frequently refer patients for the treatment of vascular conditions (including rosacea), hyperpigmentation, scars, and sun damage.

Dermatologists, plastic surgeons, oculoplastic surgeons and GPs refer patients from across the UK and internationally. He also sees patients by self-referral.
