Consultant General and Interventional Cardiologist
I am a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist with extensive
experience in the diagnosis and treatment of coronary and structural heart
disease. I have particular expertise in coronary intervention, acute coronary
syndromes, primary angioplasty for heart attacks, and advanced catheter-based
procedures.
Alongside my clinical practice, I hold senior medical
leadership responsibilities within the NHS, with a focus on clinical
governance, patient safety, quality improvement, operational performance and
workforce development. I am committed to delivering high-quality,
evidence-based care while ensuring that patients are fully informed a
involved in decisions about their treatment.
My clinical interests include coronary angioplasty,
multivessel and bifurcation disease, acute myocardial infarction. I also have
experience in advanced intracoronary cardiac imaging and a broad range of
interventional cardiology procedures.
I have a strong interest in research and medical education
and have been involved as a principal investigator in several major
international clinical trials. I have also published extensively in the areas
of cardiometabolic disease, diabetes, heart failure and acute coronary

Clinical Approach
I believe that good cardiology is about more than treating a
heart condition. It involves understanding the individual patient, explaining
the diagnosis and treatment options clearly, and working together to reach a
decision that is appropriate for their circumstances.
I aim to provide a calm, thorough and evidence-based
approach, particularly when patients are faced with complex diagnoses or
decisions about invasive treatment. My experience across acute cardiology,
complex intervention, research and senior clinical leadership allows me to
consider both the immediate clinical problem and the patient's longer-term
cardiovascular health.
Leadership, Research & Education
I currently combine my clinical practice with senior medical
leadership within the NHS. My leadership work includes clinical governance,
quality improvement, service development, operational transformation and
supporting clinical teams to deliver safe and effective patient care.
I have led and contributed to research programmes examining
the relationship between diabetes, glucose intolerance, myocardial infarction
and cardiovascular outcomes. I have been a Principal Investigator for multiple
Phase III international clinical trials and have published extensively in
peer-reviewed medical journals.
I have also held senior medical education roles, including
Training Programme Director for Cardiology and Core Medical Training in
Yorkshire, supporting the development of doctors in training. I was a MRCP
PACES examiner for the Royal College of Physicians of London.
Professional Philosophy
My aim is to combine specialist clinical expertise with
compassionate, personalised care. I place particular importance on listening to
patients, explaining complex cardiac conditions in understandable terms, and
ensuring that treatment decisions are based on the best available evidence and
the patient's individual needs.
