About Dr Javed Mohungoo
Dr Javed Mohungoo is a skilled and knowledgeable Consultant Dermatologist with over fifteen year's experience in dermatology. He has a great interest and expertise in general dermatology, paediatric dermatology, mole removal, skin cancer, acne vulgaris, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis and skin allergies.
Dr Mohungoo also has special experience in Hair and Scalp disorders which has led him to write a chapter on female pattern hair loss. He has also been involved in research projects - finding new mutations in patients with hair disorders. He has also published articles on hair loss in medical journals.
Dr Mohungoo went to medical school at the University of Leeds and underwent his specialist training in Sheffield within the Sheffield Teaching Hospital NHS Trust. He subsequently became a consultant at Hull and York Teaching Hospitals where he still holds an honorary appointment.
He has also worked in national roles during his career. He was the National Clinical Lead for Dermatology at VirginCare Dermatology and a Consultant Dermatologist. Within this role he was instrumental in building secondary care services within the community and introducing new technology. He set up a new Teledermatology Service in Northern Lincolnshire for which he won A Striving for Better Award for Innovation. He was also nationally recognised and was Finalist at the British Medical Journal Award for Dermatology Team of the Year in 2019.
Within previous roles he was the Lead for Skin Cancer MDT, Clinical Governance, Medicine Management and Deputy Caldicott Guardian. He has also an Honorary Senior Clinical Tutor with the Hull Medical School for involvement in education and research including being a principal Investigator in a study of patients on Biologics in psoriasis.
Dr Mohungoo was made a Fellow of the Royal College of Physician in 2019 in recognition of outstanding service.

The appointment took place at the appointed time. The doctor was friendly and explained everything clearly.
My 2 year old was apprehensive to come somewhere new at first, but Dr Mohungoo was patient and made us all feel at ease. He took time to examine and explain the causes of her condition and clearly laid out the treatment options. Her eczema was so painful and had been keeping her up at night but now it’s so under control you can’t tell she ever had it. Feeling very grateful for his help! Would absolutely recommend.
I have been extremely happy with Dr Mohungoo’s service throughout. With every appointment he has made me feel at ease and has took his time with me to make sure I wasn’t left with any unanswered questions. I sought help from Dr Mohungoo after I developed and unusual skin condition and felt that I wasn’t getting taken seriously with my own GP. Dr Mohungoo was very eager to help me find some answers. The whole process from my first consultation to getting a diagnosis was super quick and we’ve now discovered the skin condition I have is very rare. He is pulling out all the stops to help me get to the bottom of what could potentially be causing it so that I can receive treatment. It’s been so refreshing to see someone that not only genuinely cares but is clearly an expert in his field of work and treats you like a human being!
