About

Dr. James Noake is a highly experienced Consultant in Musculoskeletal, Sport & Exercise Medicine. He graduated from Birmingham University in 2002.

After completing a year as an anatomy lecturer, Dr. Noake underwent surgical training in trauma and orthopaedics in the Midlands. He then obtained his Masters in Sport and Exercise Medicine at Queen Mary University of London, Barts and The London Hospital in 2006. He completed further specialty training in sport and exercise medicine (SEM) in the London Deanery, leading to his fellowship of the SEM faculty in 2009.

Dr. Noake's proficiency in medical ultrasound is a key aspect of his clinical practice, particularly in diagnosing and managing musculoskeletal injuries. Throughout his career, he has gained experience at various centres of excellence nationwide, including Headley Court DMRC military centre.

He has held the position of clinical lead in orthopaedics and SEM for the NHS Hertfordshire Valleys Clinical Commissioning Group. Dr. Noake also played a pivotal role in developing a multidisciplinary SEM service at Imperial College NHS Trust in London.

With over a decade of involvement in elite sports, Dr. Noake has served as the head doctor for London Irish RFC since 2012. His sports medicine expertise extends to roles with organisations such as the Women’s Rugby Football Union, Esher RFC, UK Athletics, GB Paralympic squad, The English Institute of Sport, GB and England disability football squads, Essex County Cricket Club, GB Basketball, and England Hockey.

Dr. Noake's contributions to major sporting events include serving as an event physician for the Aviva indoor world athletics grand prix series and the World and European artistic gymnastics championships. He also served as a Medical Officer at significant multi-sport games events like the Sainsbury’s UK Schools Games in 2011 and the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics, providing expert medical care in the athletes' village polyclinic.

I have looked after their patients

I have worked alongside James for nearly 4 years and can safely say that he is one of the best clinicians I have worked alongside in my career. His diagnostic skills are as good as it gets. If I am ever struggling on a complex case, James is my preferred doctor for help on diagnosis and management. We have established an excellent relationship and I would highly recommend him as a Sport and Exercise Medicine consultant.
