Dr Enson Thomas

Dr Enson Thomas is a Consultant Respiratory Physician with over two decades of experience in Respiratory Medicine. He worked as a Consultant at Bedford Hospital between 2002 and 2021 and has also spent 5 years as an Honorary Consultant Respiratory Physician at UCL. Additionally, he has been the lead clinician for COVID, Lung Cancer and Interventional Pulmonology and has been involved in research as the principal investigator for the COVID recovery trial.

Dr Thomas specialises in the following areas:

• Cough
• Sleep disorders including Sleep apnoea and CPAP titration
• Lung cancer
• Asthma
• Bronchoscopy
• Endobronchial ultrasound
• Long COVID

He also has expertise in all areas of respiratory medicine including cough, breathlessness, chest pain, bronchiectasis, pleural disorders, fibrotic lung diseases, and allergic respiratory disorders.

He works alongside a multidisciplinary team that includes thoracic surgeons, lung oncologists, specialist nurses, and physiotherapists. He is able to offer a range of investigations including lung function studies, CT imaging, pleural ultrasound, sleep studies, CPAP titration, bronchoscopy and endobronchial ultrasound.

Dr Thomas completed his primary medical qualification in 1989 and followed this with postgraduate study in Respiratory Medicine. In 2002, he completed dual certification in Respiratory and General Medicine and entered the specialty register of the UK Royal Colleges.
