Dr Dewi E Thomas

Dr Dewi E Thomas is a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist. They graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2002 and completed junior doctor training in Edinburgh and South Wales. In 2012, they were awarded a research doctorate (MD) by Cardiff University. Dr Thomas completed an advanced clinical fellowship in Electrophysiology at the James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, in 2016.

Dr Thomas specialises in all aspects of heart rhythm management, including using catheter ablation to treat arrhythmias such as Atrial Fibrillation, SVT, and Ventricular Tachycardia. They also have extensive clinical and research experience in implanting and following up on pacemakers, defibrillators, and resynchronisation devices.

Dr Thomas is passionate about education and is heavily involved in medical education at local and national levels. They are a senior lecturer and clinical lead for cardiovascular medicine at a university medical school and represent Wales on the British Heart Rhythm Society's education committee. Dr Thomas has helped set national accreditation exams for the past six years. This work complements their clinical activities, and they hope it enhances their ability to explain and promote understanding during patient interactions.

Dr Thomas holds international accreditation through British, American, and European heart rhythm societies in invasive electrophysiology and implantable device therapy.
