About Dr Babur Javaid
Dr. Babur Javaid graduated in 1987 and completed his specialist training in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine in the Mersey Deanery, Liverpool. During his training, he had the privilege of working alongside Professor Sir Ian Gilmore, former President of the Royal College of Physicians, London, as well as with eminent gastroenterologists Professors Martin Lombard, Anthony Morris, and JM Rhodes, all of whom have served as Presidents of the British Society of Gastroenterology.
Dr. Javaid was appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at North Cumbria University Hospitals in 2001. He has been dedicated to training and education, completing a Diploma in Clinical Education from Newcastle University in 2010 while maintaining his role as a full-time consultant. He also serves as a postgraduate examiner for PACES on behalf of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom.
In April 2014, Dr. Javaid moved to Bedford Hospital NHS Trust, where he is the clinical lead for the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Service. He is also a Principal Investigator for several multi-centre clinical trials related to Inflammatory Bowel Disease at the Bedford Hospital site. Dr. Javaid has been actively involved in research, particularly in areas such as Barrett’s oesophagus, IBD, and endoscopy.
He remains committed to advancing the field of gastroenterology through both his clinical work and research, offering invaluable expertise in endoscopy and the management of complex gastrointestinal conditions.
