Dr Declan Anthony Cawley

Dr Declan Anthony Cawley is a dedicated Consultant in Palliative Medicine who specialises in providing comprehensive supportive care to individuals and families facing the challenges of life-limiting illnesses. He is committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centred care across various clinical settings, ensuring that patients receive the physical and emotional support they need. By collaborating closely with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals, he helps establish clear care preferences and treatment plans that focus on what is most important to the individual.

His clinical expertise focuses on advanced pain relief and symptom control, helping patients manage the day-to-day impact of long-term diagnoses. Dr Anthony Cawley has a particular clinical interest in supporting patients with cancer, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), heart failure, and progressive neurological conditions, such as Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Motor Neurone Disease (MND). He works to design personalised care plans that address both the physical and psychological needs of his patients, offering reassurance and stability during complex treatment regimens or when care goals transition.

Dr Anthony Cawley graduated with his primary medical degree, Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, and Bachelor of the Art of Obstetrics (MB BCh BAO), from the National University of Ireland in 1998. He has a strong background in clinical research and was awarded a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) from the University of Kent for his work on the palliative and supportive needs of patients with respiratory conditions. He is a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP).
