Mr David Thurtle

Mr David Thurtle is a Consultant Urologist who specialises in general urology, endourology, and uro-oncology. With extensive clinical training in minimally invasive techniques and technological surgical approaches, he provides comprehensive care for a wide range of conditions affecting the urinary system and male reproductive organs. He is particularly dedicated to evidence-based practice and patient-centred decision-making, ensuring that every individual receives individualised care tailored to their clinical needs.

Mr Thurtle completed his undergraduate medical studies (BMedSci, BMBS) at the University of Nottingham. He underwent specialist surgical training in the East of England and completed an advanced urology fellowship in New Zealand. In 2021, he was awarded a Doctorate in Medicine (MD) from the University of Cambridge for his academic research into prostate cancer risk prediction. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) and holds an Associate Fellowship with the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA). In recognition of his exceptional commitment to clinical excellence and surgical training, he was awarded the prestigious Bronze Cystoscope medal.

His clinical interests encompass the diagnosis and management of prostate cancer, kidney cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia, and urinary stone disease. Mr Thurtle maintains a sub-specialist focus on early prostate cancer detection and prognostication, having played a central role in developing individualised decision-making models to help patients navigate treatment options. He performs both routine and complex endourological procedures alongside minimally invasive interventions for acute emergency conditions and long-term urological health.

Throughout his career, Mr Thurtle has authored numerous scientific articles and textbook chapters on urological practice.
