Mr David Shaw

I am an accredited Cognitive Behavioural therapist with an extensive history and experince of counselling and psychotherapy. I have worked for 24 years in the care sector delivering interventions in the addiction and mental health field.  Over the last 10 years I have been a practicing counsellor currently working with Young People in secondary Eduction.  

My theraputic experince is broad and I have skills and knowledge gained from working with clients experincing anxiety, depresssion trauma and grief realted issues. My key modality is CBT and I utilise Compassion Focussed therapy  CFT and Mindfulness based  Cognitive Behaviour MBCBT therapies to support long term growth and change.  

I have found that these two approaches are of great benefit in cultivating a compassionate approach to day to day living improving our relationship to ourselves and others. Along with evidence based methods  from psychological research and counselling practice I work with cleitns at theri own pace and shape my approach according to each persons needs.   

In addition to working with individuals I also offer realtionship counselling and work with cleints from the age of 13 upwards.  

My counselling appraoch is collaberative and at its core is person centred and creative in empowring  each individual to find his or her strenghts to help overcome lifes challnges and diffilcuties.
