Dr David Beverland

Dr David Beverland is a highly respected Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in joint replacement and reconstructive surgery. With a patient-centred approach, he focuses on delivering exceptional care to individuals requiring hip and knee interventions. Throughout his career, Dr Beverland has dedicated himself to improving surgical outcomes and enhancing patient satisfaction, particularly for those undergoing primary joint replacements. His clinical practice is characterised by a commitment to precision, safety, and the long-term success of joint arthroplasty.

Dr Beverland completed his medical degree (MB BCh BAO) in 1978 at Queen's University Belfast. He went on to achieve his professional qualifications, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1982. In 1985, he completed his Doctor of Medicine (MD) thesis, which investigated patellar vibrations. To further refine his expertise, he undertook two prestigious specialist fellowships: the Sir John Charnley Hip Revision Fellowship in England in 1988, and an Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship with a focus on pelvic and acetabular surgery in Canada in 1989. He was also appointed as an honorary Professor in 2011, reflecting his deep involvement in academic research and the training of future surgeons.

In his clinical practice, Dr Beverland has a particular interest in primary hip and knee replacements, as well as complex revision surgeries. He is widely recognised for his work in optimising component placement during total hip arthroplasty, including the innovative use of the transverse acetabular ligament to guide implant positioning. Additionally, his research focuses on outcomes monitoring, reducing arthroplasty complications, and enhancing recovery protocols to ensure patients achieve the best possible mobility and quality of life post-surgery.
