Mr David Ankers

Mr David Ankers is a Consultant Gynaecologist with an NHS practice based at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Within the field of gynaecology, he specialises in urogynaecology and minimal access (laparoscopic) surgery. Mr Ankers joined Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in 2018 and leads the Urogynaecology service. He is also Trust Lead Clinician for Colposcopy, and performs surgery for gynaecological cancer as part of the South Manchester MDT. He graduated from the University of Liverpool Medical School in 2006. His training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology has been within the Mersey and North West of England rotations, where he has worked in many referral hospitals in the North West of England, leading to his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in 2017.

He was awarded the MRCOG in 2015 by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG), and Fellowship (FRCOG) in 2025. He has completed advanced training in urogynaecology as a pelvic floor surgeon. Mr Ankers is an accredited colposcopist with the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP). In addition, he has completed advanced training in Gynaecological Ultrasound to complement his practice.

His clinical expertise covers the management of pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence as well as other gynaecological conditions such as pelvic pain, menstrual problems, endometriosis, fibroids, abnormal uterine bleeding, subfertility, menopause, and postpartum problems. He also offers colposcopy for abnormal smears and pelvic ultrasound.

He has completed the Advanced Certificate in Clinical Education. Mr Ankers is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer for the School of Medicine at the University of Buckingham and the University of Liverpool, where he is actively involved in the training of undergraduates. He is also involved in training candidates for the MRCOG examinations and works with the RCOG to support this nationally as a Clinical Examiner. He has published widely within the field of gynaecology, and has presented at conferences both nationally and internationally. Mr Ankers is a member of the British Society of Urogynaecology, the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, the British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy, and the International Urogynaecology Association. He works with the School of Obstetrics and Gynaecology as College Tutor and also Advanced Training Lead (SITM, Mersey) Urogynaecology. In addition, he is a BSUG committee member for training.
