Dr Clare Langley is an established Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in hand and wrist care. Dedicated to restoring upper limb function and delivering compassionate, patient-centred care, Dr Langley manages a wide array of elective and acute conditions affecting the hand and wrist. She works closely with each patient to develop effective, individualised treatment strategies aimed at alleviating pain, restoring movement, and enhancing overall quality of life.
In her clinical practice, Dr Langley focuses on complex upper limb trauma, elective hand procedures, and reconstructive surgery. She maintains a strong clinical interest in the management of inflammatory conditions affecting the hand and wrist, including rheumatoid arthritis, as well as optimising functional recovery following traumatic hand injuries. Beyond her surgical duties, Dr Langley is active in medical education and clinical leadership, serving as an educator for surgical trainees and championing flexible career pathways within medical specialties.
Dr Langley completed her undergraduate medical studies at St Andrews University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Science in 1997, followed by a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Birmingham in 2000. She subsequently completed basic and higher surgical training in trauma and orthopaedics, achieving Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Tr & Orth) in 2015. Following a specialist fellowship in hand surgery, she gained her Certificate of Completion of Training in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery and earned a Diploma in Hand Surgery from the University of Manchester in 2017. Dr Langley is a Member of the British Society for Surgery of the Hand.
