Dr Christopher Barrett

Dr Christopher Barrett is a highly regarded Consultant Neurosurgeon who specialises in general adult neurosurgery and complex spinal surgery. With a reassuring and patient-centred approach, he is dedicated to delivering high-quality care for individuals experiencing a wide range of neurological and spinal conditions. His clinical practice encompasses the management of complex spinal disorders, spinal cord injuries, head injuries, and degenerative conditions of the spine. Dr Barrett is committed to utilising advanced microsurgical techniques to achieve the best possible outcomes for his patients.

Dr Barrett completed his medical education at the University of Glasgow, graduating with an Honours degree in Medicine in 1999. He subsequently undertook basic surgical training in the West of Scotland, followed by higher neurosurgical training in Middlesbrough and Newcastle. To further refine his expertise, he completed a specialist complex spinal fellowship in Liverpool. Dr Barrett holds a Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in Neurosurgery, as well as a Master of Laws degree with Merit.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Barrett is actively involved in medical education and professional leadership. He serves as an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer, contributing to the training of the next generation of medical professionals. His commitment to the advancement of his field is further demonstrated by his election as a Council Member of the Society of British Neurological Surgeons. Dr Barrett also contributes to clinical research, with publications focusing on spinal surgery outcomes, neurotrauma, and surgical simulation models designed to improve patient safety.
