Dr Christina Wei

Dr Christina Wei is an accomplished Consultant Paediatrician and Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist who specialises in the diagnosis and management of childhood hormone and growth disorders. Dedicated to delivering compassionate, patient-focused care, Dr Wei provides comprehensive medical support to infants, children, and adolescents. She works closely with families to formulate tailored treatment plans that support each child's physical growth, development, and long-term health.

Dr Wei completed her medical degree (MBChB) at the University of Birmingham in 2000. She then underwent extensive postgraduate paediatric training across the South West of England and Wales, followed by higher sub-specialist grid training in paediatric endocrinology. Continuing her academic engagement, she completed doctoral research and was awarded a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree by the University of Bristol. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (FRCPCH).

Her clinical practice encompasses a wide range of endocrine and metabolic conditions affecting young people. Dr Wei treats growth disorders, such as growth hormone deficiency, short stature, and tall stature, along with pubertal concerns including precocious or delayed puberty. She also manages adolescent menstrual disorders, thyroid conditions including hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism, adrenal gland disorders such as Addison's disease and congenital adrenal hyperplasia, and multiple hormone deficiencies. Additionally, Dr Wei cares for patients with type 1, type 2, and monogenic diabetes, diabetes insipidus, and endocrine complications linked to genetic conditions such as Turner syndrome, Klinefelter syndrome, Noonan syndrome, and Prader-Willi syndrome.

To investigate and monitor these complex conditions, Dr Wei conducts specialised endocrine testing and screening, including growth hormone stimulation tests, luteinising hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) tests, short synacthen tests, oral glucose tolerance tests, fast provocation tests, and water deprivation tests. Her holistic and empathetic approach ensures that young patients and their families receive clear explanations and reassuring support throughout every stage of assessment and treatment.
