Dr Chris Skene

At the age of 82 , I suddenly found myself with breathing difficulties which interfered with my daily exercise routine . My search for a solution eventually led me to Dr. Skene who rapidly diagnosed that I was suffering from atrial fibrillation (AF) which was causing my breathing problem. If I , or any of my friends have a medical problem , I always consult the web site of the Mayo Clinic , a renowned US hospital , and discovered that they had developed a new therapy to treat AF. I called Dr. Skene and I asked if it was possible for him to carry out this technique for me. I was taken aback when his reply was that he had treated 2 patients that morning using the pulsed field ablation (PFA) technique as developed by the Mayo Clinic. I was aware from my internet investigation of the advantages of the PFA approach but following Dr Skene’s procedure I was still amazed that I had felt no pain whatsoever and immediately benefitted from the relief of my breathing difficulties. I was very taken with Dr. Skene’s excellent bed side manner and how approachable he was to any questions I had.

The follow-up consultation was an informative conversation about some of the details of my ablation operation and the possible reasons why it was successful for the AF and not for the atrial flutter. We discussed possible options for the future and concluded that I would go on the waiting list for another ablation for the flutter. As usual with Dr Skene, I came away with the feeling that I was lucky to have him as my consultant.

Very helpful way of talking and helping me to feel more relaxed

Dr Chris Skene has been superb. From my initial consultation where he explained in detail my AF and the treatments available alongside the risks through to the Cardiac Ablation he performed, he was very professional, calm and reassuring. It has been 11 days since the procedure and it has been ife changing, my heart rate has been stable with no futters and I am no longer breathless, amazing!!

Dr Skene was easy to talk to, a great listener, knowledgable and his explanations were easy for a 'lay-man' to understand. I left his office with a complete understanding of my problem and an easy to follow solution. Highly recommended.
