Dr. Catriona O'Kane

Dr. Catriona O’Kane is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with the Northern Trust, whose passion for women's health was ignited during her medical training at Queens University Belfast, where she graduated in 2003. While on attachment at The Mater Hospital, she developed a keen interest in obstetrics and gynaecology, prompting her to pursue speciality training in Northern Ireland. As part of her advanced training, Dr. O’Kane completed modules in Advanced Labour Ward Practice and Advanced Antenatal Care.

During her training, she encountered many patients facing sexual dysfunction, which led her to seek further expertise from the Institute of Psychosexual Medicine, where she successfully passed both her diploma and membership examinations. In her current role, Dr. O’Kane not only works as a consultant but also serves as an undergraduate lead, mentoring medical students from Queens University and Ulster University during their obstetrics and gynaecology attachments.

Dr. O’Kane is deeply committed to providing honest, individualised advice to her patients and their partners, particularly through her antenatal clinics, where she recognises that pregnancy can be both an exciting and challenging time. She is now looking forward to joining the Optifema team, where she will continue to prioritise the unique needs of women in her patient care.
