Dr. Bhashkar Mukherjee

Dr Bhashkar Mukherjee is a Consultant Physician specialising in Respiratory and General Medicine at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital NHS Foundation Trust including the Royal Brompton Hospital.  He specialises in the investigation and management of complex breathing disorders. His expertise spans a wide range of respiratory conditions, including interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and sleep ventilation disorders. Dr Mukherjee is skilled in advanced diagnostic techniques, such as cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) and Fibre-optic Flexible Bronchoscopy, and performs a variety of bronchoscopic and pleural procedures.

He completed his medical studies at Cambridge University, where he also earned a PhD in functional neuroimaging as part of the prestigious MB/PhD programme. His specialist training in respiratory medicine took place at renowned London centres, including the Royal Brompton Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital. Dr Mukherjee’s current clinical and research interests focus on exercise physiology, pulmonary hypertension, and interstitial lung disease.
