About Mr Benjamin Snowden
Mr Benjamin Snowden is a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, practising at one of the largest maternity units in North and East Yorkshire with a tertiary-level neonatal intensive care unit. He also provides private care at Spire Hull and East Riding Hospital.
Mr Snowden completed his undergraduate medical degree at Hull York Medical School in 2013, becoming the first HYMS graduate to be appointed as a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist within the HYMS region. He undertook his specialty training in the Yorkshire and Humber Deanery and was awarded membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2022.
He has particular expertise in advanced labour ward practice, benign gynaecological and laparoscopic surgery, and general obstetrics and gynaecology. He is also experienced in gynaecologic surgery and the management of high-risk obstetric cases.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr Snowden has a strong interest in medical education and leadership. He is currently Interim SITM/ATSM Director for the Yorkshire and Humber School of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, has previously served as a Senior Honorary Lecturer at Hull York Medical School, and was nominated for the HEAT “Contribution to Medical Education” award in 2023. He is also the Obstetric Lead for the BaBi Hull site.
