Dr Benjamin Smith

Dr Benjamin Smith is a Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist who provides comprehensive diagnostic assessment and compassionate care for children and young people with heart conditions. Understanding that cardiac symptoms in younger patients can be stressful for families, Dr Smith takes an empathetic, thorough, and patient-centred approach. He collaborates closely with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure that each patient receives clear explanations, accurate diagnoses, and individually tailored management plans.

Dr Smith graduated in medicine from the University of Adelaide in 1998 before earning a Diploma in Child Health. He completed specialist training in Paediatric Cardiology across Australasia and the United Kingdom, achieving dual accreditation to practise in both regions. Dr Smith is a Fellow of both respective Royal Colleges. Following his formal specialist training programme, he undertook advanced sub-specialty training in congenital cardiac interventions in London, further enhancing his expertise in structural heart conditions.

In his clinical practice, Dr Smith manages a wide spectrum of paediatric cardiac presentations and congenital heart disease. His areas of clinical interest encompass the investigation and management of heart murmurs, chest pain, palpitations, and syncope (fainting). He performs key diagnostic evaluations, including electrocardiogram (ECG) and echocardiogram screening, to assess cardiac function and structure accurately.
