Mr Ather Abd El-Baky

Mr Ather Abd El-Baky is a highly experienced Consultant Urological Surgeon who is dedicated to delivering compassionate, patient-centred care. He specialises in diagnosing and treating a comprehensive range of urological conditions, with a particular focus on advanced minimally invasive techniques. Known for his reassuring and professional approach, Mr Abd El-Baky ensures that each patient receives a personalised treatment plan tailored to their individual needs and preferences.

His clinical expertise lies in robotic-assisted and laparoscopic surgery, particularly for urological oncology, including prostate and kidney cancers. Mr Abd El-Baky has been instrumental in developing robotic-assisted surgical programmes, helping to pioneer advanced techniques that improve surgical precision and accelerate patient recovery. In addition to his work in cancer care, where he has previously served as a Pelvic Cancer Lead to optimise treatment pathways, he manages general urological issues, kidney stone disease, and reconstructive urology.

Mr Abd El-Baky completed his primary medical education at Cairo University, qualifying with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 2000. He subsequently undertook extensive postgraduate training in the United Kingdom, earning a Doctor of Medicine research degree from Newcastle University, which focused on patient quality of life following bladder cancer surgery. He completed his higher specialist surgical training and an advanced fellowship in robotic pelvic oncology and upper tract laparoscopy. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons.

Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Abd El-Baky is deeply committed to medical education and clinical research. He holds an academic appointment as an Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Birmingham, where he mentors the next generation of medical professionals. His research has been widely published in prestigious peer-reviewed medical journals, including the British Journal of Urology International and European Urology, and he regularly presents his findings at international medical conferences.
