About Mr Ashutosh Tandon

Mr Ashutosh Tandon is a Consultant General and Benign Upper Gastrointestinal (GI) Surgeon at Spire Cheshire Hospital. He also holds a substantive NHS post at Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals, where he has worked as a Consultant for seven years and currently serves as the Clinical Lead for the General Surgery Department. He was previously the Clinical Governance and Audit Lead for five years, during which he led initiatives to improve patient safety, experience, and surgical outcomes.

Mr Tandon specialises in laparoscopic general and benign upper GI surgery, with expertise in procedures such as laparoscopic anti-reflux surgery, large paraesophageal hiatus hernia repair, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, groin and abdominal wall hernia repair, and the surgical management of oesophageal motility disorders including achalasia. He is JAG-accredited for upper GI diagnostic endoscopy and has independently performed around 2,000 gastroscopies, 1,000 gallbladder surgeries, 500 groin hernia repairs, and 150 anti-reflux and paraesophageal hernia surgeries.

He completed his surgical training across South Yorkshire, Liverpool, and Oxford, followed by a fellowship in bariatric surgery at the Churchill Hospital, Oxford. His undergraduate medical education was undertaken at the Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University in India.

Teaching and training are integral to his practice. He serves as a Royal College of Surgeons tutor for basic and advanced surgical skills courses and is a designated trainer for upper GI diagnostic endoscopy. His academic work includes research presented at national and international meetings and publications in peer-reviewed journals such as the British Journal of Surgery and the Annals of the Royal College of Surgeons.

The whole experience was excellent from start to finish i felt very much looked after an put at ease as i was a little apprehensive nobody looks forward to an operation or hospital stay but everyone was so nice an mr tandon was so lovley .
