Dr. Arasu Rayen

Dr. Arasu Rayen is a Consultant in Pain Management and Consultant Anaesthetist who provides patient-centred, evidence-based care for individuals living with persistent pain conditions. He approaches pain management holistically, combining thorough diagnostic evaluations, structured medical therapies, targeted interventional procedures, and rehabilitative support. Recognising the profound impact that long-term discomfort can have on daily functioning and emotional well-being, Dr. Rayen works closely with each patient to formulate a tailored treatment plan designed to relieve pain and restore physical mobility.

His clinical scope encompasses a comprehensive array of acute and chronic pain conditions. Dr. Rayen specialises in the diagnosis and management of lower back and neck pain, cervical and thoracic spinal pain, sciatica, post-surgical pain, and complex regional pain syndrome. Furthermore, his clinical interests include neuropathic pain, post-herpetic neuralgia, arthritis-related joint pain, pelvic and abdominal pain, and complex headaches. He possesses advanced expertise in image-guided interventional techniques, utilising ultrasound and fluoroscopic guidance to perform epidural injections, facet joint injections, joint therapies, and specialised nerve blocks with enhanced precision and patient comfort.

Dr. Rayen completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at Madurai Kamaraj University in 1991. He subsequently obtained a Diploma in Anaesthesia from Dr MGR Medical University in 1994 and a Diploma in Anaesthesia from the Royal College of Anaesthetists in 1997. He was granted Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA) in 1998, Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FFPMRCA) in 2007, and earned a Master of Science (MSc) in Pain Management from the University of Leicester in 2008. In 2014, he completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education and became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). His professional memberships include the Royal College of Anaesthetists, the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland, the British Pain Society, and the West Midlands Pain Society.
