Dr Ankur Raj

Dr Ankur Raj is a dedicated Consultant Paediatric Ophthalmologist who provides comprehensive eye care for children and young people. As an experienced Consultant, Dr Raj is committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centred care aimed at protecting and restoring visual health. He works closely with young patients and their families to diagnose and manage a wide range of congenital and acquired ocular conditions, ensuring that every child receives tailored medical and surgical intervention.

Dr Raj completed extensive higher specialist training in Ophthalmology across several regions in the United Kingdom, including the East Midlands, Cambridge, Taunton, and the Mersey region. To refine his clinical focus, he completed advanced fellowship training in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. In addition to his clinical work, Dr Raj actively contributes to medical education and clinical leadership, having served as a Clinical Governance Lead and College Tutor to maintain rigorous standards of patient care and mentor future Specialists.

His clinical expertise encompasses a wide array of paediatric eye conditions. Dr Raj possesses specific interests in managing strabismus (squint), paediatric cataracts, oculoplastic disorders, and paediatric anterior segment conditions. He also maintains a dedicated focus on cerebral visual impairment (CVI) and visual development, establishing specialised research-led clinics and utilising digital teleophthalmology platforms to optimise outcomes for young patients.
