Dr Anirudh Bhandare

Dr Anirudh Bhandare is a highly accomplished Consultant Gastroenterologist and General Physician who is dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centred care. He serves in key leadership positions, including as a Deputy Clinical Director for Gastroenterology and as a Clinical Lead for a regional endoscopy network. In these roles, he actively leads initiatives aimed at improving clinical access, service quality, and patient outcomes. Additionally, he holds an academic appointment as a Visiting Professor, contributing significantly to medical education, clinical research, and the training of future medical professionals.

With a broad range of clinical expertise, Dr Bhandare specialises in the diagnosis and management of diverse gastrointestinal conditions. His clinical focus encompasses inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, reflux disease, coeliac disease, and gastrointestinal bleeding. As an accredited diagnostic and therapeutic Endoscopist, he has extensive experience in performing upper gastrointestinal endoscopies, colonoscopies, and advanced endoscopic procedures. He is particularly interested in bowel cancer prevention and colon capsule endoscopy, utilising innovative pathways to support early diagnosis. Dr Bhandare is committed to evidence-based medicine and strongly advocates for shared decision-making, ensuring that each patient receives an individualised treatment plan tailored to their unique needs.

Dr Bhandare completed his medical training, obtaining his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) degrees. He has achieved advanced professional recognition, including being elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) of London in 2023. Furthermore, he holds the European Specialty Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (ESBGH) qualification. He is actively involved in pioneering clinical research, with numerous publications focusing on endoscopy quality, inflammatory bowel disease, and digital health innovations.
