Mr Aniket Deshpande

Mr. Aniket Deshpande is a Consultant Robotic & Laparoscopic Urological Surgeon based at Colchester General Hospital and Oaks Hospital, a part of Ramsay Health Care. With extensive expertise in adult urological care, he addresses a broad spectrum of urological conditions, including prostate cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, lower urinary tract symptoms, benign prostatic enlargement (BPE), haematuria, urinary infections, erectile dysfunction, and issues related to the penis and testes.

Mr. Deshpande’s specialised focus lies in uro-oncology, where he is skilled in cancer diagnostics and treatments for urological cancers. He is an expert in robotic urological cancer surgery. He also leads the adrenal service at Colchester General Hospital & performs robotic adrenalectomies.

He performs minimally invasive procedures for BPE such as Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP), conventional TURP, and bipolar TURP. He is the first surgeon in the East of England to offer the latest Hydros Aquablation minimally invasive treatment for BPE. Notably, he offers local/general anaesthetic MRI-fusion guided freehand transperineal prostate biopsies, providing a day-case procedure option for patients with increased accuracy of diagnosis. He is also an expert in Barrigel® rectal spacer gel insertion which significantly reduces the toxicity after radiotherapy for prostate cancers.

Mr Deshpande works closely with his Gynaecology colleagues in managing endometriosis, a debilitating & crippling condition for which complex pelvic surgery is often needed. He provides expert robotic assistance in such cases.

Having completed his basic medical training in Mumbai, India, Mr. Deshpande advanced his surgical expertise in the UK, completing his urology training across hospitals in the West Midlands. He further specialised through fellowships in open, laparoscopic, and robotic uro-oncology, broadening his scope in advanced cancer diagnostics and treatment techniques.
