Dr Andrew Bowey

Dr Andrew Bowey is a highly accomplished Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in spinal surgery. He provides dedicated care for both adult and paediatric patients, addressing complex spinal conditions with a reassuring and compassionate approach. His clinical practice focuses on helping patients navigate challenging spinal issues, ensuring they receive tailored treatment plans designed to improve their quality of life and restore mobility.

With extensive expertise in spinal reconstruction and deformity correction, Dr Bowey manages a wide range of conditions, including scoliosis, abnormal spinal curvatures, acute trauma, spinal tumours, and infections. He is highly skilled in utilising advanced surgical techniques such as navigation-assisted surgery, thoracoscopy, anterior lumbar interbody fusion (ALIF), oblique lateral interbody fusion (OLIF), and three-column osteotomies. Dr Bowey is committed to employing innovative, patient-specific solutions, including the use of advanced three-dimensional anatomical modelling, to enhance surgical precision and improve patient outcomes.

Dr Bowey completed his medical degree at the University of Aberdeen, qualifying in 2004, where he was awarded both the orthopaedic and radiology medals. He completed his basic surgical training through the West of Scotland programme, followed by specialist orthopaedic training in Liverpool. To further refine his expertise, he undertook prestigious fellowships in paediatric and adult spinal surgery across Liverpool, Oswestry, Newcastle, and Brisbane. He holds the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS in Trauma and Orthopaedics) and is a member of several professional advisory panels. Additionally, he contributes to medical education as a Sub-Dean of Medicine and Senior Lecturer.
