Dr Alison MacDonald

Dr Alison MacDonald is a highly skilled Consultant Dermatologist who provides compassionate and comprehensive care for a wide range of skin conditions. Dedicated to delivering patient-centred medical care, she works closely with individuals to accurately diagnose complex dermatological concerns and formulate tailored management plans designed to improve skin health and overall quality of life.

Her clinical practice encompasses all aspects of adult dermatology, with particular expertise in skin cancer screening, mole assessment, and dermoscopy. Dr MacDonald has extensive experience in managing chronic inflammatory skin conditions such as psoriasis, acne, rosacea, and severe eczema. She has been instrumental in establishing dedicated clinical services for severe eczema, offering cutting-edge biological therapies for complex cases.

Dr MacDonald graduated from Glasgow University Medical School, qualifying in 1999, after completing an intercalated Bachelor of Science with Honours in Psychology at University College London. She undertook her specialist Dermatology training within the West of Scotland rotation, which included advanced clinical training at McGill University in Montreal and the National Institutes of Health in Washington DC. Following her appointment as a Consultant Dermatologist, she has remained committed to professional excellence and maintains active memberships with both the British Association of Dermatologists and the Scottish Dermatology Society.
