Mr Abhishek Kumar

Dr Abhishek Kumar is a highly experienced Consultant Interventional Cardiologist based in Wigan, with more than 20 years’ expertise in the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular disease. He is a recognised specialist in assessing and treating chest pain, palpitations, breathlessness, heart failure, angina, and high blood pressure (hypertension). Dr Kumar currently offers private consultations via e-Consultation.

Dr Kumar qualified in medicine from the University of Delhi in 2001 before relocating to the UK. He is appointed as a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust, where he also holds senior leadership roles as Clinical Director and Research Lead for the entire medical division. In addition, he has provided cardiology services at Manchester Royal Infirmary since 2017.

Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Kumar is committed to education and research. He is on the GMC Specialist Register for Cardiology and is a GMC-recognised trainer, actively involved in supporting and developing the next generation of doctors. His combination of extensive clinical experience, leadership, and academic involvement underpins his patient-focused, evidence-based approach to cardiology care.
