Mr Aaron Rooney

Mr Aaron Rooney is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in conditions affecting the hand and wrist. He offers comprehensive care for both elective upper limb disorders and acute traumatic injuries, dedicated to restoring mobility and alleviating pain for his patients. Taking a compassionate and patient-centred approach, Mr Rooney ensures that every individual receives a thorough evaluation and a personalised treatment plan designed to support their functional recovery.

His clinical practice covers a broad range of hand and wrist conditions, with particular expertise in managing arthritis, including base of thumb joint arthritis, and Dupuytren's contracture. Mr Rooney frequently treats nerve compression syndromes, such as carpal tunnel syndrome and cubital tunnel syndrome, alongside complex hand and wrist trauma. His surgical capability spans targeted non-surgical interventions, such as image-guided injections, as well as procedures including carpal tunnel release, cubital tunnel release, Dupuytren's fasciectomy, trapeziectomy, osteotomy, and joint replacement surgery.

Mr Rooney graduated with a medical degree (MB BCh) from the University of Wales in 2011 and earned a Master of Surgical Sciences (MSc) from the University of Edinburgh in 2014. He completed basic and higher surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedics, obtaining Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in London in 2020. To further refine his expertise, he completed a Training Interface Group Fellowship in Hand Surgery, achieving both UK and European Diplomas in Hand Surgery. He maintains professional memberships with the British Orthopaedic Association and the British Society for Surgery of the Hand.
