About Dr Aamir Ali

Dr Aamir Ali is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist with specialist expertise in coronary intervention, and cardiac MRI. He holds NHS consultant posts at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust, and provides private consultations at 10 Harley Street, The Lister hospital Chelsea and Syon Clinic.

Dr Ali completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Birmingham in 2004, having previously obtained a BSc (Hons) in Primary Healthcare and Clinical Research Methods from University College London. He holds Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP UK) and passed the European Examination in General Cardiology in 2015.

He undertook specialist cardiology training on the London Northwest Cardiology rotation, gaining experience at leading centres including Harefield Hospital, Royal Brompton Hospital and King’s College Hospital. He completed an advanced fellowship in complex percutaneous coronary intervention and structural heart disease at King’s College Hospital, followed by a dedicated cardiac MRI fellowship at the Royal Brompton Hospital.

Dr Ali’s clinical practice includes the assessment and management of chest pain, coronary artery disease, cardiomyopathy and unexplained breathlessness, alongside a focus on preventive cardiology and cardiovascular risk reduction. He is actively involved in research as a Principal Investigator for multiple NIHR portfolio studies and contributes to medical education as a PACES examiner at Imperial College London. He also serves as Clinical and Educational Supervisor for junior doctors and leads the cardiac catheter laboratory rota at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust.

Qualifications

Dr Ali graduated in Medicine from the University of Birmingham in 2004, having previously completed a BSc (Hons) in Primary Health Care at University College London.

He undertook his postgraduate medical and specialist cardiology training in London, training at a number of leading cardiac centres including the Royal Brompton Hospital and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

Following completion of his specialist cardiology training, he undertook a fellowship at King's College Hospital, gaining advanced experience in complex coronary intervention and structural heart disease.

Dr Ali was appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust in 2019. He is accredited in cardiac MRI and continues to maintain specialist interests in interventional cardiology, cardiac imaging and the management of a broad range of cardiovascular conditions.

My sister died of heart problems when she was 16 and I am a single parent to 2 children and I can honestly say that Dr Ali was outstanding. He put my own stresses at ease in the way he did my angiogram and how he marshalled his team. Dr Ali is a true credit to his hospital and is a a true credit to his profession.
