The Whiteley Clinic specialises in the investigation and treatment of varicose veins and other venous conditions. Such venous conditions include thread veins, venous leg ulcers, pelvic congestion syndrome, vulval and other intimate varicose veins and phlebitis. Mark and his team are regarded as international experts in endovenous surgery and the management of pelvic congestion syndrome.

Professor Mark Whiteley founded The Whiteley Clinic. Having trained in St Bartholomew's Hospital, Bristol and Oxford University, he has a strong background in research and development.

Mark was the first to perform an endovenous (non-surgical) varicose vein operation in the UK in 1999. Since then, The Whiteley Protocol®, a standard of excellence for the diagnosis and treatment of varicose veins.

He and his team have continued to win multiple national and international prizes. They invented the TRLOP technique for the closure of perforating veins, are recognised as the UK leading centre in pelvic congestion syndrome and pelvic vein problems, and performed the first endovenous microwave treatment for varicose veins in Europe in February 2019.

Mark and his team are continually promoting and developing venous surgery and venous surgical approaches. They believe firmly that the venous system is one major system and should not be separated into "only varicose veins". As such they treat leg veins, pelvic veins, intimate varicose veins, arm and hand veins as well as facial veins. Indeed, they are interested in any vein related problem.
