Clear explanations and follow up, very smooth endoscopy procedure

When I was told by my previous surgeon that there was no chance of removing my very awkward polyp internally, and that I need to lose 10 - 12 inches of colon along other important pats including my appendix, I asked for a referral to Dr Despott. That was the best decision I have made in my life. Just a few days after this I was very pleasantly surprised to receive a phone call from the man himself. He told me that having studied my notes he was willing to take my case on for internal microsurgery. He went out of his way to explain what was involved and the risks involved and the chances of success and failure. He answered all my questions very thoroughly making sure I understood what was involved. He was very professional but above that his caring attitude shone through. This caring attitude was reflected in every subsequent phone call and meeting including on the day of my operation when he ran through my procedure in detail. Then the operation...Dr Despott is a superhero in disguise! He worked tirelessly for more than 8 hours to detach and remove my polyp. I was sedated but could follow the whole procedure. It was a very difficult involved procedure but, despite the stress and the concentration required, Dr Despott remained calm and controlled the whole time - even managing to teach his colleagues what he was up to. His professional caring manner continued in the days and subsequent when he was checking on my condition. He explained to me that he "treats his patients as though they were members of his family". If you manage to be treated by Dr Despott then you can consider yourself very very fortunate.

Put me at ease and very helpful despite running late

I have been a patient of Dr Vishal Saxena for about 7 years now and he is very easy to talk with. He has explained to me thoroughly every step of the way from the illness I am suffering from to the medication that has been prescribed for me and he will make sure I understand everything properly. When I am nervous Dr Saxena has a very calm approach and makes me feel relaxed especially when having a colonoscopy done. Dr Saxena is very helpful, patient, very caring and pleasant always ready to answer your questions. I still have occasional flare ups and when I email his secretary about my condition some one from the team will always contact me via telephone and talk with me and/or reassure me. I am very happy and pleased with Dr Saxena being my consultant. He is one of the best consultants I have and the Gastro team under Dr Saxena are equally good.

From start to finish, Dr Elmiyeh was exceptional. He called me outside of the normal working hours to check I was OK and whether I had any questions.

My husband had reason to consult Dr Preston recently in an emergency. From the moment I emailed his secretary on a Sunday to the moment he saw my husband the following morning, we felt in safe hands. He arranged for immediate tests and admission. Within a matter of hours he had identified the immediate problem and was able to treat it. Thereafter he supervised my husband's inpatient care until he was discharged three days later and has regularly liaised with other medics also caring for my husband. Throughout all of our dealings with Dr Preston he demonstrated compassion whilst at the same time, professionalism and efficiency. We have no hesitation in recommending him and his team.

I have now been treated by Mr Haq three times. His expertise is apparent from the outset and I have always had complete confidence and trust in him. He is kind and thoughtful and you know that you are the centre of his attention.

Dr Chatu was excellent. I was kept well informed about the procedure which was performed quickly and painlessly. He took the time to review all of his findings with me in the follow up.
