Dr Sherief Elsayed is a UK-trained Consultant Spinal Surgeon currently practicing in Dubai.
He is the former Lead Clinician for Spinal Surgery at Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals in the United Kingdom, having qualified from Cardiff University in 2000 and trained in Trauma & Orthopedics on the prestigious Nottingham rotation. He subsequently undertook subspecialist fellowship training in spinal surgery at the world-renowned Centre for Spinal Studies and Surgery, at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham.
Dr Elsayed is an expert in the non-operative and operative treatment of various spinal conditions including degenerative conditions, spinal tumors, spinal trauma (fractures, dislocations, spinal cord injuries), spinal infections, and spinal deformities (scoliosis and kyphosis).
Dr Elsayed has a keen interest in clinical research and has co-authored numerous publications in the field of spinal surgery; in addition, he has presented at many national and international courses and conferences.
He is also passionate about education and is the Co-Founder and Course Director of NSpine, the world's most comprehensive course in spinal surgery and associated specialties. In recognition of his extraordinary achievements, Dr Elsayed has been made an Ambassador for the City of Nottingham and for the City of Brighton & Hove. He was recently awarded an Innovation Award by the Ministry of Health & Prevention in the United Arab Emirates. His other notable achievements include the implementation of the Brighton Spondylodiscitis Score, a validated scoring system for the management of patients with Spondylodiscitis, published in the European Spine Journal, 2018; being an International Editor for Miller Review of Orthopaedics, 6th edition, the seminal orthopaedic text and also a Research Supervisor at Mohammed Bin Rashid University, Dubai, UAE & Brighton & Sussex Medical School, UK.
