About Dr. Sherief Elsayed
Dr Sherief Elsayed is a UK-trained Consultant Spinal Surgeon currently practicing in Dubai.
He is the former Lead Clinician for Spinal Surgery at Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals in the United Kingdom, having qualified from Cardiff University in 2000 and trained in Trauma & Orthopedics on the prestigious Nottingham rotation. He subsequently undertook subspecialist fellowship training in spinal surgery at the world-renowned Centre for Spinal Studies and Surgery, at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham.
Dr Elsayed is an expert in the non-operative and operative treatment of various spinal conditions including degenerative conditions, spinal tumors, spinal trauma (fractures, dislocations, spinal cord injuries), spinal infections, and spinal deformities (scoliosis and kyphosis).
Dr Elsayed has a keen interest in clinical research and has co-authored numerous publications in the field of spinal surgery; in addition, he has presented at many national and international courses and conferences.
He is also passionate about education and is the co-founder and course director of NSpine, the world's most comprehensive course in spinal surgery and associated specialties. In recognition of his extraordinary achievements, Dr Elsayed has been made an Ambassador for the City of Nottingham and for the City of Brighton & Hove. He was recently awarded an Innovation Award by the Ministry of Health & Prevention in the United Arab Emirates. His other notable achievements include the implementation of the Brighton Spondylodiscitis Score, a validated scoring system for the management of patients with Spondylodiscitis, published in the European Spine Journal, 2018; being an International Editor for Miller Review of Orthopaedics, 6th edition, the seminal orthopaedic text and also a Research Supervisor at Mohammed Bin Rashid University, Dubai, UAE & Brighton & Sussex Medical School, UK.
He covers all aspects of spinal health, from managing back pain, scoliosis, and spinal stenosis to addressing complex conditions like herniated discs, spinal deformities, and tumours. His advanced surgical techniques include minimally invasive spinal surgery, artificial disc replacement, and spinal fusion, alongside non-surgical options like epidural injections and facet joint treatments. Dr Elsayed's expertise also extends to trauma care for fractures and dislocations, degenerative spine diseases, and sports-related spine injuries, ensuring personalised solutions for every spinal condition.

Dr Sherief Elsayed was very accommodating and listened to my concerns. He explained all of my options to me clearly. I visited some surgeons in the past that told me my only option was surgery. He solved my problem with only an injection. Very relieved to have found Dr Sherief.
Dr Sherief Elsayed performed a neck fusion surgery on me 3 months ago. It was the best thing I’ve ever done, can’t believe I suffered with the pain for so long. I eventually went to see him after the pain got worse and I started getting weakness and pins and needles in my arms.
Dr Sherief solved back pain for me. I was told I need surgery. Dr Sherief fixed me with injection. I recommend Dr Sherief to all.
I went to see Dr Sherief as I had a herniated disc in my neck that wasn’t getting any better with the physio I was doing regularly. He discussed the surgical options with me: a fusion or disc replacement. I was not familiar with the disc replacement option however after Dr Sherief explained everything to me I felt like this was the best option for me. I am quite into my sports and this option wouldn’t restrict my neck movements as much as a fusion in the future. Post-op recovery was fine, obviously some pain but was back to normal activities quickly. Grateful for Dr Sherief and the hospital team for treating me so well!
After many months of physio and pain management for my sciatica, I was recommended to visit Dr Sherief by a friend who visited him when he worked in the UK. The pain was interfering with my normal life and I needed a more permanent solution. Dr Sherief explained my options very clearly and made me feel at ease with the idea of having an operation. The operate I had was an instant success and I am now pain free. I would highly recommend Dr Sherief to anyone who is in a similar situation to myself.
