Prof. Michael Timms

Dr Michael Timms is a world-renowned consultant ENT and cochlear implant surgeon. He specialises in all adults and children's ENT problems, seeing patients for nasal and sinus surgery, ear surgery as well as laryngeal microsurgery.

Dr Timms is highly experienced in endoscopic sinus surgery, including procedures for complicated cases such as CSF leaks, angiofibroma as well as intranasal and sinus tumors. As an early adopter of the surgery, it is one that he has carried out over 6000 times. He has also performed over 500 endoscopic DCR surgeries for epiphora (the excess watering of the eye).

Dr Timms also specialises in ear surgery including cochlear implants, implantable devices and stapedotomy for otosclerosis. He works with patients on the correction of protruding ears. And, he sees patients for corrective rhinoplasty, snoring and sleep apnea, the removal of tonsils and adenoids as well as vocal cord lesions.

A true innovator in his field, Dr Timms developed the Coblation Tonsillectomy technique, which is used in ENT surgeries for the following:

• Snoring
• Nasal and sinus tumours
• Laryngeal tumours, papillomas and airway stenosis

Dr Timms' techniques now make procedures quicker and less painful for patients, allowing for a quicker recovery. He has given presentations and conducted live demonstrations on Coblation Tonsillectomy across the world and has published several papers on the technique within many internationally recognised journals.
