I am writing to provide a detailed account of my ongoing medical condition involving recurrent bilateral kidney stones, first diagnosed in the year 2000. Over the past two decades, I have undergone multiple procedures due to the size and recurrence of the stones in both kidneys.
Early Treatment in France:
From 2000 onwards, my condition was managed by Dr. Hoznek at Henri Mondor Hospital in Créteil, Paris. Given the severity of the stones, I underwent several surgeries under his care, which were handled with professionalism and respect.
Emergency Incident in the UAE (2008):
In 2008, shortly after arriving in the United Arab Emirates, I experienced a severe blockage in my right ureter due to a fallen stone. I was admitted to Al Noor Hospital on an emergency basis. Unfortunately, the experience I endured at this facility remains one of the most distressing moments of my life.
Upon arrival, I was seen by a urologist whose approach was deeply unprofessional and lacked basic empathy. Without even inviting me to sit or inquiring about my condition, he stated bluntly:
“There is nothing we can do. Go home, and when the kidney stops functioning, we will remove it.”
His words were cruel and dehumanizing. I left the hospital devastated, both physically and emotionally, by the indifference and insensitivity I had just experienced.
I immediately applied for emergency leave, returned to Paris, and underwent urgent stone fragmentation procedures. I then resumed follow-up treatments in France until 2015.
Positive Medical Experience (2015 – Present):
In another emergency situation in 2015, I was fortunate to be treated by Dr. Aatif and Dr. Sureiss in the UAE. Both doctors came personally to evaluate me in the emergency room. They listened attentively, discussed their diagnosis with clarity and compassion, and Dr. Aatif reassured me that my case could be managed locally.
Since that day, Dr. Aatif has been handling my case with exceptional professionalism, dedication, and human empathy. His continued care has given me confidence and peace of mind. I am treated not only as a patient but as a human being deserving of respect and dignity.
Closing:
I share this account to highlight both the devastating impact of neglectful and insensitive medical behavior, as well as the life-changing importance of compassionate, professional care. I deeply appreciate the support I’ve received from Dr. Aatif and his team, and I hope this testimony can contribute to raising awareness about the importance of patient dignity in medical practice.
