A/Prof James Toh

A/Prof James Toh is a highly regarded Consultant General Surgeon and Colorectal Surgeon based in Westmead, Australia. He specialises in minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic surgery, offering advanced surgical care for a diverse range of general and colorectal conditions. With a patient-centred approach, A/Prof Toh is dedicated to delivering high-quality, compassionate care, ensuring that patients feel fully supported and informed throughout their treatment journey.

His clinical expertise spans a wide array of complex surgical procedures and diagnostic services. A/Prof Toh has a particular interest in the management of colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and diverticular disease. He is highly skilled in performing laparoscopic and open hernia repairs, as well as treating perianal conditions such as haemorrhoids, anal fissures, and anal fistulae. Additionally, he is accredited to perform diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy and colonoscopy procedures, providing comprehensive care from initial investigation to surgical intervention.

A/Prof Toh completed his Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the University of New South Wales. He later earned a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Sydney. He qualified as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in General Surgery in 2013. Following his fellowship, he undertook extensive subspeciality training in Colorectal Surgery at several major teaching hospitals, followed by international training as a Visiting Surgeon in robotic surgery. A/Prof Toh is an active member of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand, General Surgeons Australia, and the Gastrointestinal Enterological Society of Australia. He also holds an academic appointment as a Clinical Associate Professor, contributing significantly to medical education and clinical research.
