Dr Tony Kuo is a highly qualified Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeon and Otolaryngologist who provides comprehensive care for both adult and paediatric patients. With a clinical focus that spans the full breadth of general ear, nose, and throat conditions, Dr Kuo is dedicated to delivering evidence-based treatment and compassionate care. His clinical interests include managing ear infections, hearing loss, sinus disease, snoring, breathing difficulties, voice disorders, and swallowing problems. He is particularly recognised for his expertise in complex head and neck oncology and advanced reconstructive surgery.
Dr Kuo completed his medical degree at the University of Otago School of Medicine in Dunedin, New Zealand, graduating in 1999. He went on to complete his specialist training and was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery in 2009. To further refine his surgical skills, Dr Kuo undertook a prestigious two-year postgraduate double fellowship in Head and Neck Surgery and Plastic Reconstruction Surgery under the guidance of a world-renowned Plastic Surgeon at a leading head and neck centre in Taiwan. During this intensive training, he advanced his expertise in managing complex head and neck cancers and pioneering microsurgical reconstruction techniques, including microvascular free tissue transfer for facial, jaw, tongue, throat, and neck defects resulting from cancer surgery or trauma.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Kuo is deeply committed to academic medicine, medical education, and research. He has published numerous research papers in peer-reviewed medical journals and has co-authored a textbook on head and neck surgery. Sharing his knowledge with the next generation of medical professionals, he serves as a Conjoint Lecturer for both Macquarie University and Newcastle University Medical School, and is actively involved in registrar training. Dr Kuo's patient-centred philosophy focuses on clear communication and tailored treatment plans to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients of all ages, from children through to the elderly.
