About Dr Hannah North

Dr. Hannah North is a highly skilled Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) Surgeon with a specialist focus on hearing restoration surgery and lateral skull base surgery. She graduated with honours from The University of Sydney in 2005 and completed her specialist ENT training in New South Wales in 2014. Driven by a commitment to excellence, she pursued two international fellowships to refine her expertise further.

Her first fellowship in Paediatric Otolaryngology at Princess Margaret Hospital in Perth equipped her with expert knowledge in paediatric airway management and cochlear implant surgery. She then undertook a second fellowship in Otology, Neurotology, and Lateral Skull Base Surgery with the prestigious Manchester Skull Base Unit in the UK, one of the largest and most respected centres for skull base surgery in Europe.

Dr. North specialises in hearing restoration surgery, including:

  • Middle ear implants
  • Cochlear implantation
  • Stapedotomy for otosclerosis
  • Complex cholesteatoma management, using both endoscopic and open surgical techniques
  • Lateral skull base surgery for the removal of tumours, including vestibular schwannoma, meningioma, and paraganglioma
  • Surgical management of neurofibromatosis type 2

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. North has a strong academic and research background. In 2010, she was awarded a Master of Surgery from the University of Sydney for her research on the development of inner ear hair cells, conducted in collaboration with the Ear Institute at University College London. Her research secured a Project Award Grant from the Garnett Passe Memorial Foundation.

Dr. North is deeply involved in medical education and international research. She has delivered lectures at global conferences and serves as an editor for Cochlear Implant International Journal on behalf of the British Cochlear Implant Group.

We recently had both of my sons’ tonsils and adenoids removed by Dr Hannah North, and I couldn’t be happier with the care we received. She was calm, kind, and reassuring every step of the way, which made the whole process much easier for both the boys and us as parents. The surgery went smoothly, and their recovery has been fantastic. We’re so grateful for her professionalism and genuine care — highly recommend Dr North
