Dr Thora Chai

Dr Thora Chai is a dedicated Clinical Endocrinologist who is committed to providing evidence-based, holistic, and individualised care to her patients. With a compassionate and patient-centred approach, she focuses on delivering comprehensive management plans tailored to each individual's unique health needs. Dr Chai works closely with her patients to help them navigate complex hormonal and metabolic conditions, ensuring they feel supported and informed throughout their healthcare journey.

Her clinical expertise spans a wide range of endocrine disorders, with a particular interest in the management of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes, including the use of insulin pumps. Dr Chai is highly experienced in treating endocrine disorders during pregnancy, such as gestational diabetes and thyroid dysfunction, as well as managing polycystic ovarian syndrome, bone health, and metabolic conditions like fatty liver disease. Additionally, she provides expert care for general endocrinology concerns, including pituitary, thyroid, and adrenal disorders.

Dr Chai completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery with first class honours at the University of Notre Dame, Australia. Demonstrating a strong commitment to medical research, she was subsequently awarded a PhD from The University of Sydney, where her doctoral research investigated the relationship between fatty liver disease and gestational diabetes. Alongside her clinical practice, she serves as a Lecturer at The University of Sydney, where she is actively involved in teaching postgraduate medical students in the Master of Medicine (Metabolic Health) programme. She also holds an appointment as a Staff Specialist Endocrinologist at a major public hospital, where she cares for young adults with diabetes and contributes to integrated community health initiatives.
