Dr Thomas Young

Dr Thomas Young is a highly qualified Australian-trained Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who provides comprehensive, patient-centred care. Born and raised in Brisbane, he is dedicated to delivering holistic and empathetic treatment to his patients. With a unique background as both an experienced Physician and Surgeon, Dr Young places a strong emphasis on being approachable and understanding, ensuring that patients and their families feel supported throughout their surgical journey.

Dr Young completed his medical degree at Monash University in 2006, subsequently obtaining a Master of Medicine in Ophthalmic Science. Following his internship and residency, he obtained his Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, working as a specialist medical General Practitioner. He then returned to university to complete his dental degree at the University of Melbourne, graduating with distinction and receiving several prestigious academic awards, including the Dean's Honours List, the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons Academic Prize, and the John Iliffe Scholarship Prize. Dr Young subsequently completed his specialist training in Queensland, gaining extensive experience across several major public hospitals, and obtained his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is an active member of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

In his clinical practice, Dr Young covers the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. His clinical interests and expertise include dentoalveolar surgery, dental implantology, corrective jaw (orthognathic) surgery, and the management of facial trauma. He is also highly skilled in treating obstructive sleep apnoea, managing jaw and facial pathology, and performing head and neck reconstructive procedures. Dr Young balances his private practice with a public hospital Consultant appointment, contributing his expertise to the wider community while maintaining the highest standards of surgical care.
