Dr. Sze Ling Wong

Dr Sze Ling Wong is a highly qualified General Surgeon and Endocrine Surgeon who provides comprehensive surgical care in Midland, Western Australia. With a strong commitment to delivering personalised, patient-centred care, she specialises in both elective and emergency general surgery, as well as advanced endocrine procedures. Dr Wong is particularly recognised for her expertise in minimally invasive techniques, helping patients achieve optimal clinical outcomes with reduced recovery times.

Her clinical interests encompass a broad range of general and endocrine surgical procedures. Dr Wong is highly skilled in performing laparoscopic gallbladder and hernia surgeries, alongside complex interventions for thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal conditions. Notably, she was part of the pioneering surgical team that introduced "scarless" thyroid surgery, known as the transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy vestibular approach (TOETVA), to Australia. This innovative technique allows for the removal of thyroid tissue without leaving visible scars on the neck, reflecting her dedication to utilising cutting-edge medical advancements for the benefit of her patients.

Dr Wong obtained her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Calgary, Canada, in 2006. She subsequently completed her General Surgery Residency Programme at the Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada, in 2012, and went on to undertake extensive post-fellowship training in Endocrine Surgery in Melbourne and Perth. She holds fellowships with both the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (obtained in 2012) and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (obtained in 2014). Dr Wong is an active member of several professional bodies, including the International Association of Endocrine Surgeons and Australia and New Zealand Endocrine Surgeons, where she has served as a Regional Representative.
